Ernesto A. Caseja, Sr., went to be with the Lord peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 15, 2025. He was born in Olongapo City, Philippines on June 16, 1940 to the late Enrique and Benita Caseja. Also preceding him in death was his son, Fernando Caseja and daughter in law Aurea Caseja.
Ernesto, lovingly known as Tatays by his family, was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend who passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. Ernesto was one of 14 siblings, growing up in a lively and close-knit household that shaped his hardworking and generous spirit.
Tatays was the proud father of his children, Eric Caseja (Malou), Gigi Ladrido (Carlos), Hershey Hinson (Timothy), Maverick Caseja (Angel), Ernesto Caseja Jr. and Jhezreel Caseja, Daughter in law: Jessica Caseja, Grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jonica (John), Julius Ernie (Lyra), Rochelle (Nathan), Ericson (Annie), Bianca, and Ysa; mothers of his children, Milagros and Vilma whom he loved unconditionally. He showed his love daily—through his comforting meals, thoughtful acts, and the joyful time he spent with his grandchildren. Whether he was cooking a favorite dish, sharing stories, or playing games, he made every moment full of warmth and love.
A passionate basketball fan, Tatays was always cheering for his favorite teams Ginebra and San Miguel in the Philippines, and the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. He loved watching games and talking basketball with his grandkids. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious and brought the family together during TV nights.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: tending his garden and filling his home with music and laughter. He loved to sing and dance, often turning ordinary moments into joyful memories with his spontaneous performances. Tatay’s wise words, playful spirit, and unconditional love will forever be cherished by his family. His witty humor and charming personality lit up every room and endeared him to everyone he met.
He will be dearly missed by his family, his many friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the love he gave and the joyful memories he leaves behind.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Family Choice Funerals and Cremations located at 5401 Indian River Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
John 14:1-3 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”
