Harry L. Fremd – Virginia Beach
Cdr. Harry LeRoy Fremd, USN Ret., died at his home July 5, 2011. Born April 25, 1929 in West Palm Beach Florida he was the son of the late Albert and Blanche Braley Fremd. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Evelyn Cox Robert and Irene DeGray WG. He is survived by his wife of fifty nine plus years, Dorothy; sons Harry L. “Skip” Fremd II Shirley, Karl G. Fremd, and Raymond V. “Buddy” Fremd Donna; and daughters Kristina Ary Michael, Theresa Ziegler Paul, and Wendy Langley; fourteen grandchildren , eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Pahokee High School in Pahokee, Florida, and UNC Chapel Hill. He earned his Navy Wings in 1954.
For several years, he was active with his sons in the Cub Scouts Pack Master 364, Boy Scouts, and Order of The Arrow. Harry was also a life member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. “Precious” drove many miles in VA and NC picking up and delivering blood as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. A long time member of Old Donation Church, he served on its vestry and in other capacities over the years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 16th, 2011, at 1:00 pm at Old Donation Episcopal Church, 4449 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23455 with a reception following in the parish hall.
