Donna Lane Burrus, 85, of Virginia Beach, Va. passed away on 8.4.2021. Donna was born on August 15, 1935, in Marian, Indiana. Her deceased parents The Reverend Weldon F. Lane and Mrs. Osie E. Todd Lane family relocated to Norfolk, Va. for Church Ministry. Surviving is her beloved sister Phyllis Lane Bailey. The love of her life for 67 years C. Winston Burrus, Jr were Maury High School sweethearts and until recently still went on dates to Doumar’s. Over the sixty plus years they have teased each other who kissed each other first. It was not until recently that her Husband finally confessed that it was he who planted the first and forever kiss. Donna was always passionate about the love for butterflies as her father taught her, they represent forever love. Donna sang in church choirs for many years and served in other activities in Church life. She was actively involved in the community with the Garden Club, Women’s Club, and Hospital Volunteers in Hampton, Va. The Va. Beach Arts Center, Va. Beach Orchestra Association, and the Haygood Gospel Choir in Va. Beach. Survived by her dearest children – C. Winston Burrus III, Steven Lane Burrus and daughter-in-law Lisa, and Donna Michelle Burrus. The wonderful grandchildren: Michelle B. Bradley and husband Brooks, Kristie C. Suarez and husband Lorenzo, Melissa L. Sullivan and husband Colin, Melody L. Litweller and husband Christian, Darcie A. Mausteller and husband Will. Donna was blessed to include nine precious great grandchildren. Dear nieces, nephews, and their families and cousins. Her life was lived in this order with first the love of God, family, and Church. Dear friends and neighbors’ good music (hymns and classical) were a passion, hobbies included reading, travel, and music. Her greatest passion was family. A celebration and remembrance of her life will be held at Haygood United Methodist Church, August 22, 2021, at 2pm. The family would like to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff at Virginia Oncology Associates (Dr. Squartrito, Cory, Jan, and Pam) and Westminster Canterbury at Home Hospice Team (Dawn, Lauren, Casey, and Mickey).
