Lillian C.Lewis, 75, fell asleep in death on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, VA.
Lillian was born in Greenville County, VA. Her family migrated to Wilson, N.C., where she grew up. As an adult, she resided in Newport News, then Hampton, VA until her death. She was employed as a dietitian, home health provider, and as a teacher’s assistant for the Newport News Public School system until her retirement from Heritage High School.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 3, 1968. She pioneered for years and preached where the need was great (Indiana, Mississippi and Texas) with her then husband, Carl Scott. Lillian conducted several bible studies, aiding many in the truth. She truly loved Jehovah and helping others get to know him. She also loved and adored children, although she never had any of her own. Lillian was a pro at Jack Rocks, Pacman and Spades (with her partners in crime, Ruth Jones and Shirley Brown). In her later years, she enjoyed playing Candy Crush. Lillian enjoyed music, dancing and traveling. She had a green thumb and surrounded herself with beautiful plants. She also loved animals, especially elephants and would sometimes feed stray cats and dogs. She loved watching birds.
In addition to her parents, Mamie Carpenter-Moore and Freddy Moore, Lillian was preceded in death by her late husbands, Carl Scott and Ormond Lewis; two brothers, Luke Carpenter, Sr. and Danny Andre Moore and a sister, Ruth Mae Carpenter Pope.
Services for Lillian are scheduled for 4 pm Saturday, September 11, 2021 via Zoom Conferencing. Email lamorebrown200@gmail.com for information.
