Yorktown, VA – Nolan Sherwood Liddle, 81, passed away October 29, 2021. A native of Mullens, West Virginia, Nolan served our country in the Army from 1958 to 1962. In 1962, he moved to Yorktown to work at Newport News Shipbuilding. He then went to work for NASA in Hampton and eventually retired in 2001.
Nolan was proceeded in death by his wife Jane; two babies NolaJane and Jonathan Charles; his father, Hubert Liddle; his mother, Hattie; one brother, Everett; and one sister, Bernice.
He is survived by two daughters, Bernice and David Thompson of Oklahoma, Shannon Liddle of Yorktown; four grandchildren, Zachary, Britney, Cash, and John; three great grandchildren, Zachary, Jr., Lyla Jane, and Olivia; one brother, Thomas Liddle and his wife, Joan of Poquoson; and several nieces and nephews.
Our dad was a man who thought little of money and the things it could buy. He believed in hard work and being kind to others. He held to a simple belief that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He had several nieces and nephews he thought the world of. He loved being outdoors and hanging out with his two grandsons, Cash and John. They were his partners. We will sorely miss his wisdom, sense of humor and most of all, our dad, every day.
The family will be celebrating Nolan’s life privately. Condolences may be left at vacremationsociety.com
