Joan Sanger Maidment, a long time Williamsburg, Virginia resident, died peacefully on November 14, 2021. Joan was born on December 23, 1927, and grew up in East Orange, New Jersey, spending her summers in Sea Girt, NJ. She attended Connecticut College and had many varied interests including music and business. After working in New York City for CBS, she moved to Charlottesville, VA closely followed by residences in Great Bridge and Newport News, VA, after marrying Robert Maidment and starting to raise a family. She continued to teach piano in Northbrook, Illinois and finished her musical journey in Williamsburg. She was well known in the Queens Lake community and gave piano lessons and recitals to many children over a 65 year career. Joan also participated in tennis activities, enjoyed walking, traveling, and visited the Outer Banks for many summer vacations.
Joan was the daughter of the late Lester and Florence Sanger of New York City. She was predeceased by her former husband, Robert Maidment and long time companion, Jim Taylor, and sister Kathryn Hanley.
She is survived by her children, Jeff and his wife Linda, Gary and his wife Denise, and Leslie, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring Mother, with an infectious laugh and sense of humor.
