Dennis Lee Fifield (Papa) 66, passed Friday, January 14, 2022 in Norfolk, VA with his daughter by his side. Dennis was born November 13, 1955 to Louis and Orpha Fifield in Billings, Montana.
Papa was baptized April 15, 1956. He received his GED from the state of Montana. He was married for 16 years. He gained a daughter in April 1988 that he would live with until his passing. He received a two year Diploma in computer technology from ECPI.
Papa was truly a simple man with little need for things, but a man with a lot of purpose and it started with calling him Papa. He loved his family so much he traveled to North Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia to be with them. Papa didn’t have much as far as money to give, but he’d give his last dollar to a stranger. What he did give was his time freely and with lots of patience. He would stop on a dime to listen to people….some needed compassion, some needed forgiveness, some needed shelter in an old man’s wisdom, some needed love with no judgment, some just needed to be heard or a kind word of encouragement, and some just needed to sit in silence. He would say, “We all make mistakes, own it and ask forgiveness,” “Wake up choose an attitude that brings love, purpose and joy.”, and “If you change yourself you change those around you.” He required us to always do our best, be honest, work hard and if we had the chance to help someone- Do it! Papa loved to sit outside in the storms. He said it was peaceful and calming to the soul watching such power and beauty light up the skies.
Papa took advantage of everyday, but his favorite was when he could hit the open road with his Kawasaki, cowboy boots, jeans and T-shirt. With his long hair tied back and his beard flying in the wind. Destination unknown, but loved to stop and sit next to the mountains and water and listen to Rolling Stones, Eagles and Beach Boys with a Pepsi or red beer in his hand. It had a way of transporting him home and give him peace. He gave so much love and had an amazing smile with a twinkle in his eye that will be missed, but not forgotten.
Dennis’ Father Louis Fifield and two Brothers Ricky and Terry will be receiving him in heaven. Dennis leaves behind his Mother Orpha Fifield, Ex wife Patricia Fifield, Daughter Rowdie Graves(Jim); Grandchildren Joshua and Bryce Graves; Sister Lois and Tim Connell , Dylan and Lara, Sister Lolly Schafer and her children Shad and Kalcy ;Sister in law Barbara Fifield and her children Jesse, Brittany, and Jerry ;Brother Ronnie(Mimi) Fifield and their children Christopher and Mandy ; Brother Jason Fifield and partner Becky Price.
