Vickie Abbott Owens, age 66, a lifetime resident of Yorktown, passed away April 24, 2022. She is survived by her daughter, Natalie Renew (Chris) of Gloucester, VA; one grandson, Mason, whom she loved dearly; her mother, Martha Jean Abbott of Yorktown, VA; sister, Rebecca Villafane (Louie) of Crofton, MD; sister-in-law, Robin Abbott of Newport News, VA; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Abbott, her brothers, Gregory Abbott and Gary Abbott, and her sister, Angela Abbott.
Vickie graduated from York High School (1973) and later from Thomas Nelson Community College on the Dean’s List. She was the best party planner and a skilled custom cake designer and loved making crafts for others. She loved history, ancestry, Yorktown, aliens, ghosts, the weird and unusual, the Lost Colony, the Walking Dead, Dark Shadows and traveling to offbeat and quirky landmarks. She prided herself on designing interesting and detailed Halloween costumes. She was dedicated to caring for her mother after retiring from the Accounting Department of York County. She was the best Aunt ever, always putting together surprise gift boxes for her nieces, nephews and others in her life.
Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandson; they enjoyed visiting many historical landmarks together. During Covid they painted rocks together and left them around Yorktown Riverwalk as gifts to make people smile.
There will be a Celebration of Vickie’s Life on May 1, 2022, at 1pm, at Edgehill Clubhouse, Yorktown, VA. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to www.vacremationsociety.com.
