Barbara A. Miller, 79, wife of surviving Michael H Miller Sr. and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Allen, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in her home in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Born in Greenville, NC, she obtained her bachelors in French and Spanish at East Carolina University, completing graduate work at Middlebury College and Old Dominion University. In life she was the recipient of many honors, including WDEA Abroad Scholarship and East Carolina’s Outstanding Woman of the Year award. Retiring after 30 years of teaching and leading the development of the ESL program in the Newport News school district, she left a legacy of intercultural service and excellence.

She leaves behind two sons, Michael H. Miller Jr. and William H. Miller, sister, Carolyn Tew and brother, Charles Allen, five grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her beloved do, MiMi.

A private interment of her ashes is to be carried out in her home of Greenville, NC.

Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News assisted the family with arrangements.
