Samuel William Taylor, 81, passed away June 4, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 28, 1941 in Russell County, VA to the late Will and Annie Perkins Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robbie Taylor; brothers: Tom Taylor, Carl Taylor, and Walter Taylor; sisters, Dorothy Jackson and Mary Taylor; and grandson, Joseph Rager.

Sam is survived by his loving companion, Rosa Voigt, and her daughters: Melissa, Patricia, Jacqueline, and Annette; grandchildren: Samantha, Jared, Paige, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Zachary; son, Gail Taylor of Navarre, FL; grandsons: Ian, Riley, Brady, and Cobey; and brothers: Frank Taylor, Raymond Taylor, and Ralph Taylor.

Sam had an avid love for music, especially country and bluegrass. He was quite the picker on guitar. You could always catch him enjoying old westerns and sports of any kind. Sam will be greatly missed by so many. To know Sam was to know the funny jokes he loved to tell and with that, we send you off, dear Sam, and we shall see you in the funny paper.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Burial will be in the Taylor Family Cemetery in Swords Creek, VA.

Grandpa, I’m so saddened to hear of your passing- especially after this much time. I hate that we somehow lost contact after mum and I moved to Australia. I have such fond memories of you and Rosa and the safety and comfort I always felt around you and in your house and the older I get the more I realise how special it was. I wish I could have talked to you when I was older- I think we would’ve had a lot in common- so much of my life revolves around music and just being a general goof- I remember you always being cheerful and funny. I love you and miss you and I hope wherever you are now you can see the person I’ve become. I wish we had more time together. -Ian
