Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Conti passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, in Norfolk, VA on his “second birthday,” the USMC Birthday. Larry was born October 12, 1947 to Lawrence and Florence Conti in Bronx, NY. He was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School Class of 1965. He proudly served as a United States Marine from 1966 until 1970 fighting in Vietnam where he earned multiple honors and medals including a Purple Heart. Following his service, he worked for the Norfolk Southern Railroad and VA Beach Auxiliary Police Department. He retired from Norfolk Southern after 38 years of service in 2008. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias from 1985 until his passing where he served in multiple capacities locally and at the Grand and Supreme Lodges. The Pythian brotherhood was his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Florence Conti, Brother Frank Conti, and Sister Barbara Conti.

He is survived by his Bride, Dorcas Jean, who he married August 4, 1984 in Norfolk, VA, daughter and son-in-love Adrian Joy Conti-Worth and Shane Worth. He was the proud grandfather of his LSU Grandson Camden “Squirt” (20), LEE U Granddaughter Sarah “Sweetheart” (18), and Grandson Miles “Boogie”(16). He was the proud Fur Dad of Princess. He is further survived by his sister Florence and her husband Mike Vitiello as well as his baby brother William “Billy” and his wife Doreen Conti. In-laws include Donna Teal, Tim and Cindy Patches, and Stephen Patches. Nieces and Nephews include Rick Cox, Amy Leonard, Michelle Niebaur, Anthony Vitiello, Regina Vitiello, Morgan Patches, and Stephen Patches.

A short Veterans Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, 1:00PM at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery located at 5310 Milners Road Suffolk, VA 23434. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that monetary gifts be sent to help cover moving expenses for his wife who will be joining their daughter in Mississippi.
