I am so very sorry for your family’s loss. I was good friends with David back in elementary school and we had a ton of fun together. My most vivid and favorite memory of him was on my 10th birthday when my dad offered to bring me and a friend to Limerock Raceway in western CT for the day. I invited David and when we went to pile into my dad’s old and crusty, but still very cool, MGB convertible, I thought that as the birthday boy I would be sitting up in the coveted front bucket seat. But no, my dad offered that precious perch to David, my friend and our family’s guest. I got the “back” which was nothing more than a hard plank about 6 inches wide carved out between the front seats and the trunk. It was where my father kept his wrenches. With my knees pulled up to my chin, we took off flying west on Route 44 with the top down, the late May sun and wind hitting our faces. At first I pouted and cursed my dad for sticking me in the back. But after about ten minutes of driving and watching my friend in the front seat enjoying the ride, a wide grin spread across his face, my jealousy faded as I recognized that David was experiencing a very different feeling than me - I think it was joy. Joy at the moment and the speed and sun and wind and day and being with a good friend doing something cool. And I caught his joy, which lasted long after the car ride ended. That was a really good birthday, one of my best even. I don’t remember a thing about the car races at Limerock but I will never forget that great ride with my friend David.

sorry to hear of his passing. I remember him at school as being soft spoken and quiet! Tenderhearted and talked to him a few times when he was upset! I will always remember him!
