                Tommy Hitt, the man the legend.  Everyone dies, but not everyone really lives.  Tommy Hitt really lived.  His departure from this life was handled as he had lived his life, on his own terms surrounded by those who loved him.

            Ralph Thomas Hitt Jr., son of Ralph Thomas Hitt Sr. and Betty Hitt, loved life.  A native of Virginia Beach and very proud of it, a 1972 graduate of Kellam High School and voted most talented in his class.  He loved to travel, surf, fish and garden.  Tommy had an easy smile and gentle way of making all he met feel at ease and as if they had made a friend.  Tommy’s biggest smiles were always reserved for Dorothy, his loving wife of 47 years.  They were constant companions and soul mates in life.  Tommy and Dorothy have two sons, Jeffrey Hitt (Teri) and Bryan Hitt (Bryce) and two beautiful granddaughters, Nataly Ann and Baylynn King Hitt, all whom he loved dearly.  Tommy is also survived by his mother Betty, brother Bobby (Mel), numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and aunts.  Tommy was pre-deceased by his father Ralph Hitt Sr. and sister Ellen McLaughlin.

           Along with his brother Robert (Bobby) Hitt, they owned and operated Hitt Electric Corp., as a 2nd generation business started by their father in 1965.  The company’s success was a tribute to the cooperative efforts of the brothers to quality service and dedication to their work.

Tommy was recognized over his career with numerous awards and honors.  He was a past president of the Electric League of Tidewater, the Builder & Contractors Exchange, the Associated General Contractors of Virginia Tidewater chapter and Associated Builders and Contractors Apprenticeship School.  With his love for his boys, he committed his time by coaching them in recreational basketball, baseball, football and Cub Scouts.

            His presence will be missed not only by his family but by his long list of friends and business associates.  But, most importantly is that his memory will be treasured by those who loved him.  Remembering him not for his passing but for the life he shared with them.

In lieu of flowers, Tommy would request that you remember how fragile life is and to show your love to the ones closest to you every chance you get! ❤

The service will be held on March 18th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Marriott Resort Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
