Dawn Rose Murch, a former Air Force medical secretary known for her huge heart and compassionate soul, died in hospice on March 9 with her daughter and son at her side. She was 66.
“Dawn could talk to anyone. Anyone could become an instant friend. And she enjoyed helping other people even at her own expense.”
Dawn’s parents, Albert “Bucky” and Grace (Damon) Ohlson welcomed their daughter, one of six girls, into the world on September 13, 1956, in Battleboro, Vermont.
While in the military, Dawn moved from Texas to Mississippi to England, serving a total of thirteen years. Dawn loved playing with her dog Sadie, singing karaoke and talking with friends. But her greatest joy in life was family.
Dawn is survived by her daughter, Heather Leigh Murch of Virginia Beach, her son, Thomas James Murch of Virginia Beach, sisters Cheryl Ohlson Metcalf of New Hampshire, Karen Ohlson Lonie and husband Bryan of New Hampshire, Sheila Ohlson Gerken and husband John of New Hampshire, Sharon Ohlson Richardson and husband Terry of Vermont, Edna Ohlson Dunton and husband Doug of New Hampshire along with many nieces and nephews.
Services for Dawn will begin with Patriot Guard Honoring of Veteran outside at 12:25 p.m. on March 25, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:oo p.m. inside the church with reception afterward.
