Arthur Thomas Haggerty, 86, passed on May 9, 2023 in Chesapeake, VA surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the only son of the late Arthur J. Haggerty and the late Anna Broberzen Haggerty.

The majority of his life was spent in Lindenhurst, NY with the love of his life, the late Dolores Windsor Haggerty and their four children Terri Haggerty Mihelic, the late Arthur J. Haggerty, Lori Haggerty Dusch and Victoria Haggerty Grego Sommeso.

His business adventures included clamming, boat construction, commercial trucking and ownership of Termishield Exterminating Company.  In his off time, he started a non-profit organization “CURE”, where he was instrumental in teaching scuba diving to physically handicapped students.  He was an avid swimmer, built and piloted an experimental aircraft and loved exploring nature.

After retirement, he relocated to Virginia where he spent the remainder of his life, enjoying the simple things that life has to offer.  He loved spending time with his children, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Being surrounded by family, friends and good food were the things that made him happiest.  Music, dancing and relaxing in the sunshine always put a smile on his face.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 210 South Wellwood Ave. Lindenhurst, NY on June 3, 2023 at 1:30pm.  Internment will follow at North Babylon Cemetery in Babylon, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Arthur Thomas Haggerty.
