Mike and I were both avid cyclists and used to cycle together while at Purdue. We were both in the Aeronautical Engineering program and graduated in the same year. I only just learned of his passing while reading the latest Purdue Aerogram, and was deeply saddened. A flood of memories immediately came back, riding through the isolated rural roads surrounded by corn fields during the hot Indiana Summer evenings - I could never keep us as Mike was so much faster than I. What a tragic loss. My best goes out to Mike's family.

I have many good memories of Mike from our Monday morning analyst meetings at NASA. He would recount his latest adventures in the local bike races or in customizing a truck, and then we would argue about whether the test acceleration history should be shown in red and the simulation acceleration history in black, or vice versa.
