









































Madison “Maddie” Violet Carman of Newport News, passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2023 at twenty-five years old. She was the daughter of Mindy Leffel and Daniel Carman. Maddie spent her early years living in Athens, Ohio, a place that was very special to her. Maddie was incredibly smart and a voracious reader; she graduated from Tabb High School in 2016.
She had an enormously kind and generous heart. Maddie enjoyed sharing fun, silly moments with her family and friends – she was well known for her uniquely infectious laugh. She had a passion for cosmetics with bright, bold colors and was a talented make-up artist. Maddie loved music and was a coffee fanatic.
Maddie was also passionate about helping animals, having decided to become a vegetarian at a young age. As an adult, she worked as a groomer and cared for several special needs animals of her own. Her dog Milo was among her closest companions, and she proudly displayed a tattoo of his pawprint on her foot.
Maddie is survived by her parents, Mindy (Brian Baldwin) and Dan, as well as by many loving family members; grandparents, Anne and Kenny Leffel, Aunt Amy and Uncle Dan Smith, and cousins, Danni and Lizzy Smith, dear friends, Peyton Cooper, Noshin Abedin, Brooke King, Deanna “Dani” Smith, Valerie “Vee” Hoffman, and Margie, Jenni, and Liz Huber. and her beloved pets.
