Yorktown – David N.T. Perry, 75, passed away at home on February 1st, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Hagerstown, MD, to Henry and Janie Perry, David enlisted in the Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam from ’71-’72. After his honorable discharge in ’74, he pursued his passions of art and engineering by going into a career of drafting and design work. His numerous projects over many years in the field, included everything from the ice rink freezing equipment for the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics to the electrical and lighting design of the Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier. His work could be found in hovercrafts, planes, cruise ships, and even a space shuttle.
Outside of work he enjoyed martial arts, Scouts, endless home improvement projects, camping and traveling, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as kind, humorous, and patient, with a depth of knowledge on a breadth of subjects that always made for great conversation. His life and his service to his country will be celebrated privately by his family.
Honoring his memory are his wife of forty-five years, Nancy; their son, Matthew (Rosemary) Perry and granddaughters, Opal and Celeste; his son, Robert Torres; his bonus son, Brandon Horton; his sister, Maritta (Harold) Grau; his nephews, Ryon (Milena) Grau and Scott (Ellen) Grau; his brothers-in-law Clint (Dawn) Bastin and Herbert (Lisa) Bastin; his sister-in-law Anna (Paul) McKee; his nieces Kate, Emma, and Jane Bastin; and countless others who loved and cherished his life. The family wishes to give special thanks to Riverside Hospice and David’s VA aide, Ray Johnson, for all their kindness and help.
