Virginia Beach – Kay Newbern Sessor, 67, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 19, 1956 to the late Barbara Williams Newbern and Carl G. “Dugie” Newbern.

Kay was raised in Chesapeake Virginia and was a 1974 Oscar Smith High School graduate. After graduation, Kay worked at various clerical positions.  She was married to the late Roger P. Sessor.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mark and Lynn Newbern Morris of Stephentown, NY.  In addition to Lynn, she is survived by her stepmother, Patricia B. Newbern of Chesapeake, Va, who was her caretaker for many years.  Also, surviving is her stepbrother, Todd Smith, and stepsisters, Michelle McErlean and her wife, Erin of Virginia Beach, VA and Wende Pritchard and her husband Eric of North Carolina. Also surviving are several aunts, cousins, step-nieces, step-nephews and friends.  Kay was a sweetheart who was always concerned about others. She will be greatly missed!

Services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oaklette United Methodist Church, 520 Oaklette Drive, Chesapeake, VA to celebrate Kay’s life.
