Robert “Bob” Morrison passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in Virginia Beach, Va. surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born December 29, 1951 to Charles and Alice Morrison in Franklin, Penn. He was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School in Franklin, Pa. After graduating from high school, he served as a linguist in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, a career that allowed him to travel the world and make lifelong friends.

Bob met his bride Flora while serving in the Philippines and they were married 48 years. In addition to being a loving husband to Flora and father to his daughter, Jennie, he was a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed tinkering and operating his recycling and scrap business, reading books of all sorts, writing histories and stories, and spending time with family and friends. He had a very generous heart and never hesitated to help his family and friends.

He also loved serving his parish St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. Whether it was flipping pancakes for a Knights of Columbus breakfast or chatting after Mass, Bob was a devoted member of the parish for over 30 years.

Bob was predeceased by his parents and his sister Susan. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Flora, his children Jennie and son-in-law Joey, his sister Sara (Peter), his uncle Bob, his niece Judith (Thomas) and grand-niece Samantha, as well as many loving family and friends in the United States and the Philippines.

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 14 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church at 3314 Sandra Ln, Virginia Beach, VA 23464, with a reception to follow.

Bob, we met at St Matthew's so many years ago, but then go to know each other through CSAT! I will miss you and your stories and talks. Thank you for sharing your love of our Filipino community and the Cebuano culture. I will cherish the Cebuano music books you gave me. Flora and Jennie - Sincerest condolences for your loss. I've known Bob since 1970 when we were stationed in the Philippines. We reconnected several years back at our monthly luncheons here in Maryland. Bob had a wonderful memory and knowledge of the Naval Security Group in which we served. I think I learned something from him every time we talked. We will miss his stories and conversation. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace, Shipmate..

I have lots of memories growing up with Bob on Cherrytree road. My family lived just up the road from the Morrison family. Bob, my brother Garrett and myself spent a lot of time together as youngsters. Bob came to Colorado several years ago, It slips my memory as to why he was in Colorado but he dropped by my house to visit for a while because brother Garrett had given him my contact information. We spend several hours reminiscing the old days on Galloway Hill. Bob was a great guy and is sorely missed. My condolences to Bob's family.

I served with Bob at Fort Meade MD in the late 80's until I retired. One of the really "good guys" and ultimate professionals! My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends at this sorrowful time. RIP Shipmate!
