It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Marian Carla Smith, of Poquoson and Virginia Beach, Virginia on May 2, 2024, at the age of 75 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
She will be lovingly remembered by her life partner, Dan McGee and children: Erin Smith, Barry Smith, Megan Wolf and Son-in-Law, Brad Wolf; grandchildren: Reilly Smith and Kaia Wolf; sisters: Ingrid Deegan and Vonny Specht, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Marian was an educator of 44 years at Tabb High and Tabb Middle schools, both located in the York County Public Schools District. Born in August of 1948, she immigrated to the US with her family of 7 from Holland at a young age and embraced life. From business owner, loving mother, teacher, community leader and friend; she put her whole heart into everything she did. As a travel enthusiast, Marian spent a large portion of her free time exploring the world around her and abroad, all the while sharing these experiences with her family and close friends. She was also heavily involved in the local community of Poquoson, Virginia, a town where she held residency for over 15 years and raised all 3 of her children. From her theatrical production company, time spent as a Girl Scout leader, involvement in the women’s club, local food bank and thrift store, 3 children with countless sports and extra curriculars, to even running the Poquoson Christmas parade; she never stopped giving her time, passion and drive to those around her. Her life truly was to give back, show love, compassion, and give her all to everything she was involved in. Marian made a lasting impression and touched the lives of many people over her 75 years with us and will be remembered with heavy hearts and lasting smiles. She will be greatly missed; leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will be carried on with love by her children, family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 29, 2024 at Tenant E of 501 Virginia Beach Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA 23451 from 2pm-5pm for her family and friends.
