To the surprise and sadness of all, Stanley Benedict Giero passed away on Saturday 29 June 2024 at approximately 7:30 PM. He was born Friday 12 September 1952, 71 years young. The first child of Polish immigrants Boleslaw and Anna Giero in Brockton Massachusetts. Stanley (Sta) lived in Brockton till his was 11 years old then his parents and siblings moved to West Bridgewater MA. His parents bought a small house with enough land to establish a small farm. Stan became quite the athlete, thus the nickname ”Sta”. The older brother to his beautiful sister Janet and his hooligan little brother Richie. Sta graduated West Bridgewater High School in 1970.

Stanley was accepted to the New England College of Art in Boston. After a year he went to the Aegean School of Arts in Greece to study sculpture. During Christmas that year he traveled to Poland to visit his Grandmother Paulina in Stan’s father’s home village of Bobrowka, Province of Bialystok. Stan returned after his study aboard and to everyone’s surprise, speaking Polish. Boy, did he make his mother and father proud of their oldest child as he spoke Polish our Uncle Joe Gerry, Stan’s Godmother Anna Kondrat, Aunt Stella Rotkiewicz, and all our Polish family and friends. Stan was accepted to Hartford University School of Art and moved to Hartford CT. During the summer he worked as a roofer and carpenter to pay for his college education.

Upon graduation and armed with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Stan continued with his carpentry. He became partners with his former Art School Professor, Mitch Peerless. They had a home and business remodeling company. Stan did well enough to buy a home in West Hartford, where his parents who retired to Florida would visit during the summer to be with their son, visit friends, family, and escape the summer heat of Florida. Stan invited his sister and her two sons Josef and Andrew to live with him. Even though he was their Uncle he became, in essence, their father. Ranger Rich, now a Staff Sergeant serving in the 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Devens MA, would come down to Stan’s home to enjoy the family and help with the kids. On a visit to New York City he met Audrey Miller, they fell in love, and married.

Audrey, a make-up artist, had a photographer friend that invited her and Stan to Los Angeles CA. Where they stayed for twenty years. With Stan’s carpentry skills and experience he quickly landed a job in that field and soon became a building project manager. Unfortunately, Audrey developed cancer and for many years fought that disease but in 2014 she passed.Stan stayed at his home in Redondo Beach CA for a few more years. His nephew Andrew, moved to Los Angeles and Stan invited him into his home. Stan helped guide and mentor Andrew, turning him into a mature, thoughtful young man.

In 2020, Stan moved back to the East Coast and bought a home in Virginia Beach VA, and away from the snows of New England. Regrettably, his mother Anna passed away on Friday 06, September at the age of 97 in Woodsville, NH near where Janet had a farm. We had a memorial service in Port Charlotte FL. where his father Boleslaw died and was buried in 1999. Anna’s ashes were placed in the same location as his father. We also had a memorial supper and get together at Janet and Rob’s Asparagus farm in Bath NH. Stan did some traveling visiting friends and family in the States, a friend from Los Angeles who moved to Kenya, and Belize.

Stan was a good Catholic and went to church on Sundays and sometime during weekdays. He was the best brother a little sister and little brother could hope for. If you were his friend, you knew it, because he would be with you if you needed help or emotional support. Everyone loved and respected Stan. The world is a lesser place without him. Happily he is united with his mother, father, and his Godfather Josef Gerry and all the friends and family in heaven.
