It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of Joyce Ann McClure on July 14, 2024. She became ill after the first of the year and was surrounded by family and love until her last breath.
She was born on January 4, 1941; she gained peace and wholeness again on July 14, 2024. After caring endlessly for everyone, we all know she lived as an Angel on Earth. She touched and truly loved everyone she came in contact with, constantly practising unconditional love.
Joyce was born to J.D. and Geraldine Maberry in Perryton Texas. She graduated from Perryton High School and also business school in Amarillo, TX. She was very well known for her bookkeeping and Circulation business at The Perryton Herald. She worked until she was 80, something she was super proud of.
She married Irvin Joe “Si” Serpan on October 9, 1959 and had two children, Lisa and Joe. She tragically lost her husband when Lisa was a year old and she was pregnant with Joe. This was the first of many devastating losses for Joyce; She certainly had her share of struggles in life.
Joyce was a dedicated mother. She poured her life into her children and doted on them. She was also a grandmother of epic proportions. To say she loved those grandchildren was an understatement! She was a giver in every sense and made it her life’s mission to help others.
She loved basketball, horses, waterskiing, tending to her flowers, dancing, being with friends, and spending time with family, especially her two grandchildren and great grandchild.
Joyce had a grand reunion June 14 with her mother, father, son, brothers, and many friends that preceded her to the Pearly Gates. Surviving members of her family include her daughter and her husband, Lisa and Bobby Dear, her grandson and best friend, Colt Stiles, her granddaughter and shopping partner, Cassidy Stiles, her great grandson and sharer of peppermints, Jace Stiles, her brother and his wife, David and Jan Maberry, whom she spent some amazing time with at their home before she got sick, and many special friends.
A graveside service will be held in late December. Any memorials may be sent to Harrington Cancer Foundation, something she was passionate about, or Audra Wells, to help stray animals, because she loved her fur babies as well.
