Rose Talbert, 73, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in Chesapeake, Virginia surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born April 8, 1951 to Burnice and Marion Myatt in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth.

Rose met the love of her life, Rick Talbert, when he was stationed at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia. They had been pen pals for almost six years. Rose picked him up at the bus station, and they began dating. A year later, on March 27, 1971 they were married. As a result of their marriage, two loving children, Scott and Susan, were born. Rose’s family gave her life meaning. She made every holiday special for her children and grandchildren. An entire closet and outdoor shed full of Christmas decorations attest to Christmas being her favorite holiday. Rose’s six grandsons live out of state, so she sent them care packages at every holiday. She had flags for every occasion and displayed them for everyone to see. Rose had a passion for reading, especially murder mysteries, often reading a book and a half a week.

In addition to being predeceased by her parents, Rose was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Van Schoick and Judith Elbon. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Rick; a son Scott (Teatske) and a daughter Susan (Steve); grandsons Jonathan, Joshua, Josiah, Judah, Jedediah, and Ryan; sister Claudia Thompson (Drew); a host of nephews, nieces, and loving friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm Sunday August 4, 2024, at Jolliff United Methodist Church, 1900 Jollif Road Chesapeake, VA 23321.
