Hubert Eugene Osborne, 88, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2024, in Newport News, VA. He was originally from Fort Mill, SC. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mildred Ann Osborne and his parents Guy and Mary Osborne. He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters Linda Osborne, Cathy Osborne and Margo Osborne; and his two brothers, Gerald (Dorcas) Osborne and Tommy (Thelma) Osborne.
He first enlisted in the Air Force on March 19, 1958, and served his country proudly for 30 years. He began his career as an aircraft mechanic, and after receiving additional training, he worked as a manpower resource manager. After retiring, he continued to serve his country as a civil servant for an additional 20 years. Later in his career he earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Leo College. His time in the Air Force allowed him to travel, and he lived in both Japan and West Germany.
His faith was very important to him, and he greatly enjoyed being a member of Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church. There he ushered almost every Sunday, completed training as a lay servant and was an active member of the United Methodist Men. In addition, he was involved with the Landmark Forum where he took personal growth classes and attended multiple conferences in Mexico, starting at the age of 78.
We are very proud of all that he accomplished in his life. He was a very kind, gentle and compassionate person, and he made the world a better place just by being in it. He would often say that he was ageless and timeless and that he lived his life with gusto and pizzaz.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church in Newport News, VA on Saturday, August 10th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the church.
