Mark E. Dunlap, a resident of Virginia and originally from Pennsylvania, passed away on July 15, 2024.
Mark was extremely proud of his distinguished 20-year military career, during which he served the Navy as a 1st Class Cryptologist. His dedication and valor were recognized through numerous prestigious awards, including the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (3), Good Conduct (4), Overseas Service Ribbon (5), Joint Service Achievement Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, and various other unit and service awards.
Mark is predeceased by his father, Edward C. Dunlap; his niece, Joyce L. Dunlap-Miller; and his nephew-in-law, Robert Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Dunlap; his children, Lisa Buckland (Warren), Daniel Dunlap, and Matthew Dunlap (Summer); his mother, Frances Dunlap; his sister, Ronda Shuler (Landis); his brother, Thomas “Joe” Dunlap (Kim); his nephews, Douglas and Robert Shuler; his nieces, Laura Christmas and Cindy Dunlap Hinkle; and his grandchildren, Alyssa Buckland (11), Sarah Buckland (9), Nathan Buckland (6), Isabella Marquez-Dunlap (2), Kristina Marquez-Dunlap (1). He also leaves behind his great-nephews, Noah Miller and Ryan Hinkle.
He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
