Robert Francis Roche, Jr. passed away on March 26. He was born in 1967, in Poughkeepsie, New York, to Jean and Robert Sr., Robert graduated from Spackenkill High School and SUNY Cobleskill before moving to Virginia Beach in 1994, where he built a career as an optician.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Jean; his brother, Ricky; and his infant son, Michael. He is survived by his father, stepmother, two children, and several beloved siblings, nieces and nephews. A devoted father, Robert cherished every moment with his sons. He shared a love of boating, sports and the New York Giants with his father and brother. He had a kind spirit, finding peace in gardening, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He had a deep appreciation for nature, and loved the rising sun.

Robert’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His warmth, laughter, and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life Saturday, April 12th, Visitation 1pm, Memorial Service, 2pm at The Cove, behind Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, 1871 N Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mental Health Awareness Creative Arts Gallery in Hudson, NY (namiccny.org)

Rob, I miss you! It was my pleasure getting to know you and having a chance to talk with you on a daily at work. Your smile and laughter every time you seen me run in late out of breath and cleaning my glasses because they were always so dirty and covered in finger prints from my kids. You will truly be missed by your Costco family. May you rest in peace praying for your family

We've known Rob for years, ever since his days years ago at Hal Breedlove's office. With his move to Costco, we followed his expertise, and always stopped to chat with him when we were there on a weekly basis. He will be missed and we are sorry for your loss. Know how much of a positive influence he has had on many lives.

What a privilege to have had the opportunity to work with Rob and to meet Jennifer and his boys. Even after we no longer worked together, I had the pleasure of seeing him and catching up about his boys, the Giants, or the Mets. Gonna miss you, Rob.
