Continue ReadingDr. Stan Weinstein passed away peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by loved ones on June 10th, 2025 in Chesapeake, VA, after a lifetime of meaningful impact on family, friends, mentees, colleagues, strangers, everyone who met him, and, of course, Mathematics.
His legacy will live on in his family – his loving wife of 25 years Elaine Comess, his daughter Victoria Cash, his grandchildren Ethan Cash and Jordan Cash, his extended family, cousins, neices, friends, and countless students who generally thought he was the greatest professor ever and/or hardest professor ever.
He will be known for all of this, plus his amazing wit, dad jokes, support, love, his racketball trophies back in the day, the Downtown Racketball Club (later the Downtown Athletic Club, now the Norva), his extensive knowledge of random trivia about all sorts of subjects, his love of sports, family and traveling.
His absence will be profound and his memory shall be of a blessing.

I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My favorite memory with Dr. Weinstein was when he came to our house for dinner when I was a young teen who had just learned to make baked ziti, something I’d never heard of before. I made some to add to my mom’s meal. His eyes lit up, he was so excited, said he used to eat that growing up all the time!! The smile on his face worried me because I knew it wouldn’t live up to his childhood memories!! Yet he was so nice about the food! His combination of enthusiasm and kindness that day is how I remember him. I’m so sorry for your loss
