Thomas Coe Shoemaker, 96, died June 17, 2025, at Westminster Canterbury, Virginia Beach.
Tom was born March 18, 1929, in Washington DC. Two wives, Korte Cambern Shoemaker and Nancy Dixon Shoemaker predecease him; also, his parents, Rear Admiral (U.S. Navy) James Marshall Shoemaker and Frances Little Shoemaker; his younger brother James, Marshall Shoemaker, Jr.; daughter, Robin Shoemaker McGuire; and son, David Coe Shoemaker.
He is survived by his son Robert Marshall Shoemaker of Riverdale, UT; his sister Katya Shoemaker Spicuzza and her husband Colonel (U.S. Army) William Spicuzza of Crozet, VA, and special friend, Peggy Wilkinson of Virginia Beach.
Tom was a graduate of Saint Christopher School in Richmond, Virginia, and Eastern Washington State University, and served in Korea in 1953 as an Army Artillery Second Lieutenant. He retired in 1992 as Senior Account Agent from Allstate Insurance Company. Tom has served as Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus Council 4632, Exalted Ruler, B.P.O.E. Elks 2268, and as President of the Princess Anne Jaycees and Kiwanis Club BeachCombers, respectively.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Westminster Canterbury Chapel on Wednesday, June 25th at 11:00. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Shoemaker family plot, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Greenwood, Virginia.
