Albert Charles Selkin died peacefully at home on June 26, 2025, at the age of 83.

He was a graduate of Granby High School, Old Dominion University, and the University of Virginia Law School. Albert was a dedicated and well-respected attorney and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Robbie; his daughter, Michele Sotkin; his son, Brandt Selkin; his brother, Howard Selkin; and his grandchildren, Alexi and Reid Sotkin. Albert was a lover of the arts and a sports enthusiast, but his greatest loves were his family and many friends.

A private memorial service will be held on Sunday. Donations can be made in Albert’s memory to Temple Israel.

Al & I were Clarinetists, he at Granby, I at Norview. Williamsburg Band, Band at ODU(early), he studied Russian, Music for me. He became an Attorney, I became a Mailcarrier in Norfolk and I retired in 1992 to a farm in Halifax County, Va. The last time we met was outside the Circuit Court Bldg. in Norfolk in about 1992. A good friend, Al. May our Heavenly Father smile on him along with Abraham. Bob.

Albert was both my attorney for real-estate transaction as well as a friend. When I tried buying a property that was worth far more money than I could have possibly borrowed, Albert provided a strategy that frankly I thought, "Albert's cheese has slid off his cracker." But I tried it anyway, and much to my very pleasant surprise, it worked! He's largely credited with my success in business. Thanks brother, you'll be sorely missed.

Robbie, we had such wonderful times playing golf with you and Albert and enjoying New Year’s Eve together and dinners in each other’s homes. Albert was always fun to be with and one of the kindest people that ever lived. We are so glad for all the years and memories the two of you shared and hope that you can be buoyed by the care and concern others are sending you in this time of such sudden and great loss.
