Suffolk, VA – Judith Euglow Moore, 83, of Suffolk VA, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025. Judy was born in Newport News, VA on March 21, 1942 to the late Austin and Margaret Euglow.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Margaret Euglow, and her brother, Kenneth C. Euglow. Judy is survived by her husband of 61 years (married in 1963), William Edward Moore, III; her sons, William Edward Moore, IV and his wife, Meredith, of Charlotte, NC, and Kenneth Scott Moore and his wife, Jennifer, of Knightdale, NC; and her treasured granddaughter, Margaret Harris Moore, of Charlotte, NC.
Judy graduated from Cradock High School in 1960 and East Carolina University with a Master of Arts in Education in 1969. She used her degrees to teach U.S. and world history in Portsmouth Public School for 36 years before retiring in June of 2001. She devoted her professional life to the field of education, engaging young minds as a schoolteacher and sponsoring many junior and senior classes. It was her goal to take as many students as possible on overnight trips to Washington, DC, Jamestown/Williamsburg, and extended trips to Europe during summer vacations – oh what fun! Beyond the classroom, Judy was a member of several organizations, including the Delta Zeta Sorority, Zeta Lambda Chapter, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Gamma Chapter. Judy also served as an election officer for the City of Suffolk for 10 years, watching Americans exercise their greatest freedom – the right to vote.
Her own personal trips with her husband extended from Fairbanks, Alaska; through the Panama Canal; to the Hawaiian Islands; to Istanbul, Turkey. She also enjoyed spending precious time with her family on many Caribbean cruises.
It is Judy’s wish that family, dear friends, and former students gather on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 4PM to 7PM at the Moore Family riverfront home on Bay Circle, Suffolk, VA. The family appreciates your support and requests, and those who wish to express sympathy, to consider donating to their favorite charity in Judy’s name.
“To my family and friends, thank you for our good times spent together (especially 30+ years of fish fries in our backyard). Death is not the end but a beginning. May you only have fond memories of me.”
