Dennis Lee Waite, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Chesapeake, VA, just days shy of his 78th birthday. Born on August 4, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA, Dennis lived a life filled with purpose, love, and adventure.
Dennis served his country with honor and distinction, retiring as a DTC in the US Navy. His dedication to his work and his exemplary service set a standard for excellence that inspired all who knew him. After his naval career, Dennis continued to make an impact as a Network Operation Center Supervisor at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), where he was respected for his leadership and commitment.
A man of many talents, Dennis found joy in woodworking, crafting pieces that reflected his meticulous nature and creative spirit. Alongside his beloved wife, Teri, he embraced the joy of travel, particularly relishing their adventures aboard Princess cruise lines. Together, they shared 56 beautiful years of marriage, filled with cherished memories and boundless love.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mary Waite. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by his wife, Theresa “Teri” Waite; his sons, Jeffery Lee Waite and wife Jennifer, and Robert Joseph Waite and wife Heidi; and his dear granddaughter, Victoria Leigh Waite. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Zoey Dean, Dylan Hedly, and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Lynne McDermott.
Dennis’s life will be celebrated at a service held at 1pm on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Family Choice Funerals and Cremations in Virginia Beach. His family invites all who knew him to join in honoring a life well-lived, filled with strength, devotion, and an unwavering love for those around him.
Dennis Lee Waite’s legacy of love, service, and adventure will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
