Suffolk, VA – Stephen “Steve” Joseph Stavish, III passed away after an extended illness on August 15, 2025. Steve was born on June 4, 1955, in Plainfield, New Jersey to Stephen Joseph Stavish, II and Ruby Lee Stavish Jones. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Susan Stavish.
He is survived by his loving children, Jessica Stavish (Steven), Stephen Joseph “Joe” Stavish, IV (Whitley), and three grandchildren, Kelsey Grace Head, Jackson Stavish, and Connor Stavish. He is also survived by his many close siblings, Matthew Stavish (Ann), Stephanie Marangoni, Ellen Alston, Donna Jones Hughes (Mark), Catherine Nowlan (Warren), Josephine Taylor, William “Billy” Jones, and many special nieces and nephews.
Steve was a graduate of Kempsville High School and a Virginia state high school tennis champion. Steve worked for Firestone for several years before founding a business with his brother Matt, where he worked for over 40 years before retiring. He was an incredibly loving family man that enjoyed spending time with them at the beach, fishing, and listening to live music. He will be lovingly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, generosity, and pride in his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sawyer’s Creek Baptist Church in Camden, NC on August 30, 2025 at 10 AM. Donations may be made in his honor to Heartland Hospice, Gentiva Foundation, https://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/GentivaFoundation/GHS.html.
