Trudy Lynn Smith Woodring, 76, passed away on July 10th, 2025 in Norfolk, VA, after a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was born on June 29th, 1949, in Richmond, VA, to Fletcher Hampton Smith and Ruth Anne Watson.
She was an avid sailor, a worldly traveler, and an artist who enjoyed making stained glass pieces, pottery sculptures, and Oshibana (flower pressing), among other things. She was always drawn to the water, owning her own sailboat for some time and living at Sandbridge Beach, VA, where she had married her late husband, David. She was quick to make new friends and the life of the party, always inviting those she loved to enjoy her waterside views and join in on some deck dancing and friendly conversations.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Wayne Woodring, brother Michael Wayne Smith, and sister Judy Ann Smith. Trudy is survived by her daughters, Britany Woodring, Bromby Bradley; and her granddaughter, Parker Bradley. She also leaves behind her greatly loved dog Precious. She will be cremated, and her ashes laid to rest next to her husband, David Woodring, in Arlington National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held in Sandbridge at a later date.
