Carole Lynne Trott, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 87. Born as Carole Lynne Brackett on May 31, 1938, in Floral Park, NY, she lived a life full of love and service to her family, friends, and the community.

Carole spent much of her career working as a supervisor at GEICO Insurance company, where she met and enjoyed life-long friends. She later worked as a secretary at Truist Bank. Her diligence, commitment, and integrity were highly valued.

Her adventurous spirit shone brightly through her love for travel. Carole, alongside her beloved husband of 56 years, Winfield Trott, explored the country in their RV for many years. Together, they created countless memories and treasured friendships during their trips and spent more than a decade of winters with fellow “snowbirds-turned-friends” down in Pharr, Texas.

A devoted member of Saint Michael Lutheran Church, Carole volunteered extensively, contributing to Community Outreach programs including the Food Pantry. Her volunteer work at the Navy Relief Society gave her an opportunity to give back to the military community she respected. Known for her nimble fingers and generous heart, she personally sewed hundreds of protective face masks during COVID and knitted hats for newborns at the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters. Each stitch was a testament to her caring spirit.

Carole’s family loving called her a “saint” – a testament to her enduring patience, generosity, and compassion. Beyond sharing these gifts with her family and friends, she also served as a foster parent to several children, providing them with a nurturing environment and leaving a lasting impact on their young lives.

Carole’s parents, Charles and Pauline Brackett, her husband Winfield, her brother Ronald Brackett, and her great-granddaughter Violet Roenker preceded her in death. Her legacy continues through her surviving family. She leaves behind three daughters: Cynthia Scott and her partner Robert Anderson, Rebecca Roenker and her husband James “Jamie,” and Wendy Barcroft and her husband Lloyd, Jr. “Buddy.” Her love also endures in her grandchildren: Stephanie Scott, Alaina Trott, Joshua Roenker, Jennifer Perrel, Jill Bowers, Jon Affolter, Jr., Jarred Roenker, Jefferey Roenker, Lloyd “Buddy” Everton, and Hunter Barcroft, along with twenty-two great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many other cherished family members and friends.

To celebrate Carole’s remarkable life, there will be a service held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Saint Michael Lutheran Church. A private interment will take place in the near future, placing her alongside Winfield at the Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
