Kitty Hawk, NC – Mandy Michelle Hewett, 45, was born December 4, 1979, in Franklin, VA. Surrounded by loved ones, she passed away peacefully at Chesapeake Regional Hospital on September 2, 2025.
Mandy was a member of the Franklin YMCA Leader’s Club and a graduate of Franklin High School where she participated in, and dearly loved, volleyball. She also loved the Washington Redskin’s football team. One of her fondest childhood memories was when the Washington Redskin cheerleaders came to visit her at Hunterdale Elementary School during her 5th grade year.
Mandy was a resident of Kitty Hawk, NC, and was a dedicated and hardworking individual who made her mark as a self-employed landscaper and part owner of Scotts Landscaping & Firewood LP. Her commitment to her work and her community was evident to all who knew her as well as her love for plants. She will be remembered for her strength, dedication, and the love she shared with those around her.
Mandy was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Dean Hewett, her maternal grandparents, Sidney and LaRue Brittle, her paternal grandparents, Alfred and Alice Hewett and her fur babies LuLu, Smokey, and Jada.
Mandy leaves behind her beloved mother and best friend, Cheryl Anne Stepp, who will forever cherish her life and memory, her brother Josh Hewett (Caroline), and her nieces Leah Hewett and Hattie Hewett.
Family members left to cherish her memories are her: Aunts: Lorraine Greene Whitehead (Tilghman Phelps), Minnie Brittle Rose (Keith); Uncles: Sidney “Toot” Brittle, Jr. (Laurie), Gary Hewett (Deborah), Darrell Hewett (Barbara); Cousins: Austin Whitehead (Monica), Kristen Rose Edwards (Jon), Brian Rose (Brittany), Caleb Whitehead (Miranda), Carter Brittle, Cole Brittle, Whitley Brittle, Scott Hewett (Brandy), Luke Hewett (Katie), Amanda Lassiter (Travis); and stepmother Chris Hewett.
Also left to cherish her memory are many more relatives and loving friends but there is also: a special Great Uncle, Frank Jones; a special first cousin once removed, Bonta Hewett Cunningham; and several very special friends – Kirstin Blythe Riddle, Whitney and Jesse Hines, Jimmy Brown, Mark Sabatini, Dave Hannah, Scott Newbern, Marlene Newbern, and Charlene Springer.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date to honor Mandy’s life and legacy.
