




Suffolk, VA – Tommie Louise Miller, born on January 15, 1954, in Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away on September 9, 2025, at her home in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 71.
Tommie dedicated her life to serving others as a Public Health Nurse with the Portsmouth Health Department. Her compassionate nature and commitment to the well-being of her community left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She had an undeniable love for life, embracing each day with warmth and kindness. Her gentle spirit and caring heart were evident in the love she shared with her family and friends.
Tommie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Thomas Cotten and Christine Shook Cotten and a beloved son, Mathew Kent. She is survived by her son, Christopher Stone, and her daughter, Sarah Whitehill, and her loving grandchildren, Noah Stone, Joshua Stone, Dylan Stone, Beck Whitehill and Ryatt Whitehill; who will carry forward her legacy of love and compassion.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Tommie’s memory. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this difficult time.
