Norfolk, VA – Joseph Patrick Newsome, born on June 18, 1968, in Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away on September 7, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 57.
Joseph dedicated his life to working as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the construction industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. Outside of his professional life, he had a deep love for the outdoors and animals. He found peace and joy in nature’s beauty.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Newsome. Joseph is survived by his beloved mother, Tommie Jones, husband, David; his cherished son, Patrick Newsome, wife, Arica; his treasured grandchildren, Franklin Joseph and Abigail Rose; brothers, Scott Newsome, Todd Newsome, and David Earl Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews, who all brought immense joy to his life.
A Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Joseph’s memory. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this difficult time. Friends and family are invited to share online condolences and memories at www.vacremationsociety.com.
Joseph will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love for the outdoors and animals, and the warmth and kindness he shared with those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In keeping with his loving wishes, he gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
