Sarah W. Belpree, a cherished resident of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on July 11, 1927, in the beautiful state of Virginia, she lived a full and joyous life dedicated to the education and betterment of young minds.
Sarah devoted her career to teaching, where she touched countless lives with her passion and dedication. Her commitment to education was recognized when she was awarded Teacher of the Year for York County in 1975, followed by the prestigious honor of being named Teacher of the Year for the entire state of Virginia in 1976. Her legacy as an educator is one of inspiration and excellence, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harry Wright and Elsie Wright; and four brothers. She will be missed many relatives, friends, co-workers, and former students, who will forever cherish her memory and the profound impact she had on their lives.
Sarah’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her profession and the joy she found in nurturing the potential of her students. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her contributions to education will be remembered for generations to come from the halls of Queens Lake Intermediate School and beyond.
