Lois Ann Schaeffer, born on September 3, 1930, in Warren, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harold and Mary Holcomb, and her devoted husband of over 72 years, Frederick H. Schaeffer. In addition, she was preceded in death by two children: Jane C. Epson and Mark F. Schaeffer.

Lois dedicated much of her life to nurturing others as a swimming and water safety instructor with the Warren YMCA and American Red Cross Greater Pennsylvania Region, where she shared her love for the water and the outdoors. Her passion for nature was evident in her fondness for the Florida beaches during her time following retirement  at Fort Myers, Florida. Lois had an artistic soul, often found expressing herself through drawing, painting and ceramics, bringing beauty and creativity into the world around her.  She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Order Of The Eastern Star Inc, Youngsville Chapter #478.

She leaves behind her cherished son, Daniel Schaeffer, of Gates, North Carolina, married to Marjorie, of Gates, NC, John Holcomb , of La Fargeville, NY, married Judy of La Fargeville, NY as well Lois’s extended family and caring friends who will hold her memory dear.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm, Friday, December 12, 2025 at The Village at Woods Edge retirement community, 1401 High Street, Franklin, VA  23851.  An interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Russell, Pennsylvania, at a later date. Lois’s warmth, strength, and love for both family and nature will be remembered by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
