Philip (Phil) Walter Goddard, Jr. passed from this world in the early morning of November 29th, 2025, at the age of 72. He was at his home in Hampton, Virginia, surrounded by his daughters and wife while listening to his favorite music. Born on August 23rd, 1953 in Dedham, Massachusetts, he is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Shirley and Philip Goddard Sr. He was very proud of his Sicilian, Scottish, and Canadian heritage.
Phil was raised in Springfield, Vermont and graduated Springfield High School’s class of 1971. He cherished mother nature and the wilderness of New England as an avid hunter, hiker, canoer, and fisherman. He loved sitting beside a roaring bonfire. Phil was also involved in the Pioneer Sportsman’s Club with Mas Ayoob and Steven Sager, both as an instructor and participating in many shooting competitions. He loved four-wheeling, taking his S10 4×4 to the mountains in Weare, NH.
Professionally, Phil loved woodworking. For over twenty years he was a Contractor at Phil Goddard’s Custom Carpentry and Restoration, serving people all over New England to build additions, decks and restore antique tin ceilings. He carried this love into his Management position at Aubuchon Hardware.
Phil’s true passion was music. He often sang and harmonized to his favorite songs and was rarely found without his guitar. He was a lover of open mic nights and jammed in a few different bands in his time.
Phil touched the lives of everyone he knew; a loyal, kind, and loving soul. Honoring his memory are his wife: Kate William Goddard; his siblings: Cheryl Mahoney (Francis) and Gayle Goddard-Taylor (Wayne); his children: Kimberly Landes (Travis), Mark Goddard (Natasha), and Emma Rose Winslow Goddard (Matthew); his step-children: Teresa Jones (Carlos) and Isaac Howe (Jennifer); his grandchildren: Tony McRae, Marquise Butts, Travis Landes Jr. (Maddie), Nathan Landes, Kyle Landes, and Harrison Howe; his great grandchild: Anastasia Moklak-Landes; and many, many friends who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be found here once available. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Awareness Society, or the ASPCA. Blessed be.
