Rita Sue Tolley-Roth, born on June 28, 1955, in Arkansas, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 70.
Rita was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent much of her career working on an assembly line in a factory. Her diligence and commitment to her work were admired by all who knew her. Despite the demands of her job, she always found time to pursue her passion for gardening. She had a profound love for flowers and took great joy in nurturing her garden, which was a testament to her gentle spirit and appreciation for nature’s beauty.
Rita valued education and proudly earned her GED, setting an example of perseverance and lifelong learning for her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Woodrow Edwards and Nela Sue Edwards, her sister Linda Hudson, her brother James “Mann” Edwards, and her sister-in-law Sarah Edwards.
Rita is survived by her devoted husband, DeWayne Roth; her loving son, Michael Tolley; her cherished grandsons, Justen Tolley and Michah Tolley; and her precious great-grandchildren, Jaxen Tolley and Maia Tolley. She also leaves behind her dear brother, David Edwards, along with numerous friends and extended family who will miss her greatly.
Private services will be held in the spring in Tennessee, where family and close friends will gather to celebrate her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for prayers during this difficult time.
Rita Sue Tolley-Roth will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
