Susan Gay Jordan-Steinbach, 67, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. She was born November 17, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Richard and Elizabeth Jordan and was raised in Willingboro, New Jersey.
A graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Susan carried a lifelong love of learning. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Hawaiʻi and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial–Organizational Psychology, reflecting both her practical abilities and her genuine interest in people and how organizations function.
For 28 years, Susan was a devoted Navy wife, embracing the frequent moves, travel, and friendships that came with military life. Over 19 years with H&R Block, she built a respected career as a tax professional, serving as both an office manager and senior tax advisor, where she was known for her dedication, precision, and commitment to helping others.
Susan will be fondly remembered for her warmth, her love of a good buttery chardonnay, and her ability to find joy in life’s simple moments. She shared a close and enduring bond with her four sisters, marked by loyalty, shared history, and deep affection. Her steady presence, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family leave a legacy that will be carried forward by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Frank R. Steinbach Jr.; her daughter, Corrine Conard (Matt); her son, Peter Jordan-Steinbach (Liz); her beloved grandchildren, Dylan and Esme; her sisters, Nancy Jordan and Kathryn Durr; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Jordan and Heather Jordan.
A Celebration of Susan’s Life will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Centurion, 157 Bernard Road, Fort Monroe, Hampton, Virginia. Interment will be held in New Jersey at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to WHRO Public Media at whro.org/donate.
