Gloria L. Belk passed away peacefully at her home on January 6, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 69. She was born on July 29, 1956, in Washington, DC to the late Mildred and Ernest Swann. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Gregory F. Belk, Sr.; her sister, Christy Swann; and her brother, Reginald Swann.
Gloria was born and raised in Southeast Washington, DC, where she spent her formative years and developed a lifelong passion for advocating for the community. She was an active participant in the Democratic Party and a steadfast supporter of labor unions, always championing the rights of workers and standing up for what she believed was just. Never afraid to speak her mind, Gloria was admired by many for her courage and conviction. Her voice was a beacon of strength and integrity, inspiring those around her to stand firm in their beliefs.
Above all, Gloria was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her love and dedication to her family were unparalleled. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter, Nikki S. Duncan-Talley, and cherished granddaughters, Nila and Lani Talley. Her legacy of love and resilience will continue to live on through them. Gloria is also survived by a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
