Marjorie Krause Cohen, born on April 19, 1935, in Newport News, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in the same city that welcomed her into this world. She was 90 years old.
Marjorie was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. Her sharp wit and sense of humor were legendary among family and friends, and she had a remarkable ability to make people laugh, brightening even the darkest of days.
A graduate of Newport News High School, Marjorie went on to build a successful career as a manager at convenience stores, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. Beyond her professional life, she was a woman of many passions. She loved outdoor activities, often finding solace and joy in nature. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, and she spent countless hours tending to her plants with care. An avid reader and puzzle enthusiast, Marjorie enjoyed the quiet moments these activities provided. She also had a love for travel and particularly cherished her time spent on cruises, exploring new places and cultures.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Cohen; her daughter, Deborah Rorer; and her mother, Ethel Krause. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by her sons, William E. Cundiff III and his wife Janine, and David Cundiff; her grandchildren, Buddy Simpson and his wife Amanda, Shana Leeson and her husband Derek, Dylan Cundiff and his wife Bri, and Megan Cundiff; and her great-grandson, Luca Leeson.
In accordance with Marjorie’s wishes, there will be no services held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her name to The American Cancer Society, honoring her memory and her generous spirit.
Marjorie Krause Cohen will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her laughter, love, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts.
