Jay Evan Hadley, born on February 15, 1947, in Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 78.
Jay dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his country with honor and distinction. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and Army Reserves, committing 23 years to military service. Later in life, he took on the role of night watchman at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, where he continued to demonstrate his unwavering dedication and work ethic.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Pierre Hadley and Margaret Hadley. Jay is survived by his cherished daughter, Jaye Lyn Hadley, his loving sister, Cynthia Hadley Costales, and his dear friend, Jack Gallagher.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Cape Canaveral Veteran’s Cemetery, where Jay will be laid to rest with the dignity and respect befitting a man who served his nation so faithfully.
Jay Evan Hadley will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to duty and the quiet strength he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
