Virginia Beach – Our dear Michael entered into heaven on February 19, 2026. Eighteen years after 6-way bypass heart surgery, Mike’s heart finally gave out.   

Michael was pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Virginia and his in-laws Doris and Max. He is survived by his wife Maxine, sister Mary (Bill), brothers Ken and Joe (Bob), daughters Jessica (Brett), Annelise (Keith), grandchildren Brody and Livia, nephews John (Natalie), Kevin, Eric, Michael, Mark (Bri), brother-in-law Richard and Jessica’s mother Dana.

Mike was born in New York, but his father’s Army career moved them around to places including California, Okinawa and finally to Kings Grant in Virginia Beach in the mid 60’s. Early on, Mike grew to love surfing, thumbing rides to and from the oceanfront before he had a car. Even in the years after he wasn’t surfing anymore, he would drive to the Oceanfront to “check out the surf”. After graduation from High School, Mike and new friend Junior Schick went on a trek to Colorado and Florida in Junior’s van, cementing their friendship for the rest of their lives. Mike then went on to serve three years in the Army, studied to be a radiology technician and then finally settled into the utilities construction industry.

Family was the most important thing in Mike’s life. He was the consummate “girl Dad”; Jessica was his pride and joy, always his priority. Mike was a devoted husband; there was never any doubt about his love because he would say it every day. He loved his siblings and had friends from different stages of his life that remained close to his heart always. He was a no-nonsense guy and could be a bit gruff, but he was always the first to encourage and congratulate all of us. He had faith in God, which guided him throughout his life.

A memorial service will be held on March 28, 2026, at 11am at Saint Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach.

We will be forever grateful that we were blessed to have him for those additional 18 years. We will miss you Mike- until we meet again.
