Catherine Anne Fallin, born on April 18, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 83, following a period of declining health due to dementia.
Catherine was the beloved daughter of the late Raymond and Harriet Ellis. She received her early education at Our Lady of Solace Catholic School and later attended Lafayette High School, both located in her birthplace of Brooklyn, New York.
On August 1, 1973, Catherine married Nicholas Manfredi Sr. in New York. Together, they embarked on a new chapter of their lives when they moved to Norfolk, Virginia, in June of 1983. Catherine dedicated over 25 years of service to The Norfolk Navy Exchange in Norfolk, VA, where she worked diligently in the baby department until her retirement. Her first husband, Nicholas, predeceased her on January 3, 2001, after battling colon cancer.
Catherine found love again and married Robert Fallin on June 18, 2005. They shared several cherished years together until his passing on January 26, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Nicholas Manfredi Sr.; her second husband, Robert Fallin; her sons, George Anthony Pollice and Nicholas Anthony Manfredi Jr.; her sisters, Margaret ‘Pat’ Gillis and her husband George, Cecelia ‘Missy’ Ellis, Regina ‘Gina’ Rodriguez and her husband Fernando; and her sister-in-law, Brina Ellis.
Catherine is survived by her loving daughters, Jeannine Marty and her husband Paul of Wooster, OH, and Elizabeth Pollice of Gloucester, VA. She also leaves behind her stepson, Donald Manfredi of NY; her sisters, Mary Scalia and her husband Dominic of Farmingdale, NY, and Barbara Ellis of Farmingdale, NY; her brothers, Thomas Ellis of Farmingdale, NY, Dennis Ellis of Florida, and John Ellis and his wife Kathleen of upstate NY. Catherine was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services held. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Newport News Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Bristol Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Catherine in her final days.
Catherine Anne Fallin’s legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey. May she rest in eternal peace.
