Peggy Brooks, aged 80, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, in her hometown of Newport News, VA. Born on January 2, 1946, Peggy lived a full and meaningful life, deeply rooted in the community she loved.

Peggy dedicated her professional career to Patient Accounting in Healthcare, where her meticulous attention to detail and compassionate nature left a lasting impact on both colleagues and patients alike. Her unwavering commitment to her work was a testament to her character and integrity.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Brooks; her loving parents, Rosa and Jacob Hildebrand; her siblings, Linda Rodgers, Rodney Hildebrand, Terry Hildebrand, and Steve Hildebrand; and her cherished nieces, Diane Brooks and Gloria Wilson. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Peggy is survived by her brother, Tracy Hildebrand; her nephew, Christopher Hildebrand, his wife Brittany, and their two children; her niece, Savannah Reinhart and her husband Richard; her nephew, Keenan Wilson, his wife Jessica, and their two children; her niece, Joda Batiste; and her niece, Emily Hildebrand Delatte, and her son. Peggy’s legacy of kindness, strength, and resilience continues to inspire all who knew her.

The family will be holding a private service at a later date to honor Peggy’s life and memory. In this time of reflection, they invite those who knew Peggy to remember the joy and love she brought into the world.
