Colby Elaine Wright, 39, of Virginia, sadly passed away on March 19, 2026. Born on April 17, 1986, in Williamsburg to Wilson Monroe Wright III and Tina Wright, Colby was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend with a kind heart and gentle spirit.
Colby attended Menchville High School and New Horizons Regional Education Center before starting a career in customer service as a service writer, where she took pride in her work and enjoyed connecting with people. She found her greatest peace outdoors, where she could slow down, breathe and simply be. Colby had a deep love for nature and was often drawn to its quiet beauty and comfort. Colby especially admired the landscapes of the Midwest and Colorado, appreciating the open land and the space it gave her to reflect. She found meaning in small, beautiful things, like butterflies and admiring the stars at night. In her free time, she enjoyed writing poetry, creating art, and reading books- outlets that reflected her creative, thoughtful nature.
Colby is survived by her two sons, Dylan Harr and Shane Martel Jr. (SJ); her mother, Tina Wright; her siblings, Courtney Carpineti (Dale), Travis Wright, and Emma Monge (Jeremy); her mother-in-law, Terri Harr; “Nanny,” Jimmia Harr; her close friend, Cami Lewis, and many extended family members and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilson Monroe Wright III, and her spouse, Joshua Harr.
A private memorial will be held with family and close loved ones on Thursday, March 26. We will then gather at Denbigh Docks at 2:00 PM for a moment of reflection in Colby’s honor, in a place she loved. Those who wish to honor Colby’s memory further may do so by spending time in nature, creating something meaningful, or simply pausing to notice the quiet beauty in the world- just as she did.
In lieu of flowers, and to help the family with expenses, contributions can be made to Colby’s memorial fund. GoFundMe
The family is eternally grateful for all the love and support they have received during such a difficult time.
